Take a Moment: Wk 9 Day 2 Devotion & Prayer From Pastor Batiste

Jul 1, 2025    Pastor Lamar Batiste

Title: “Who Told You That?”

As we move through the second day of the week, we revisit one of the most sobering questions in Scripture—asked not just to Adam, but echoed to each of us by a loving God: Who told you that?

After Adam and Eve sinned, they didn’t just hide from God, they hid from themselves. Shame made them question what had already been established. They were still made in God’s image. Still formed by His hands. Still loved. But sin distorted how they saw themselves.

That same distortion still happens today. Somewhere along the way, many of us start believing lies about who we are: “You’ll never be enough.” “You’re too broken.” “You’ll always be rejected.” But God’s question still cuts through the noise: Who told you that? Because if it didn’t come from the Creator—it’s not your truth.

If you're walking around with labels that God never gave you, it's time to drop them. You are not your past. You are not your pain. You are not your failures. In Christ, you are redeemed, restored, and redefined.

Reflection: What false identity have you accepted that God wants to replace with truth?

Prayer: Father, strip away every lie spoken over me that I’ve allowed to take root. Remind me that my identity is found in You alone. Speak louder than my insecurities, and louder than my past. Let Your truth shape how I see myself. Amen.

"Don’t let broken people name what God already called blessed."
