Monday Manna w/ Pastor Batiste - “Before I Blame Them”

Sep 14, 2026    Pastor Lamar Batiste

If I can be honest, yesterday’s message stayed with me after I left the pulpit. I found myself thinking about how easy it is to notice what everybody else needs to change while overlooking what God may be trying to change in me.

As I watched some of you laugh during the sermon, I also noticed others really internalizing what God was

saying to them.

James would not let us point the finger without first looking within. Sometimes the conflict around us is connected to our pride and even our selfish desires. I am learning that sometimes God uses what is happening around us to reveal what needs attention within us.

So before we respond, defend ourselves, prove our point, or try to win the argument, maybe we need to seek God and ask Him to search our own hearts.

Because peace does not always begin with everybody else changing; sometimes it begins when we humble ourselves and let God change us.

My prayer is that yesterday’s message will help us all get along by first making sure we are not the source of the conflict.

Prayer: Lord, search my heart. Show me what needs to change in me before I focus on what needs to change in others. Help me humble myself and surrender every area that needs Your healing. Amen.
