Monday Manna w/ Pastor Batiste - “Don’t Push People Aside”
I remember when I was young, I used to only like the red jelly beans. I would push aside all the other colors. Some I never tried because of their color, and some I assumed I would not like simply because they did not look like what I preferred.
As I thought about yesterday’s message, I realized we sometimes treat people the same way. We push people aside because of what we see on the outside. Their appearance, their status, their background, or what we think they can or cannot offer.
But James reminds us that real faith leaves no room for favoritism. We cannot claim faith in Jesus and then treat people as though some matter more than others.
The gospel should change how we see people. It should teach us to look past the outside and remember that every person has value because God gives them value.
“Favoritism begins when we allow outward differences to determine somebody’s inward worth.”
Prayer: Lord, help me see people the way You see them. Remove favoritism from my heart and teach me to treat others with love, honor, and mercy. Amen.
